Insituform Technologies, Inc. has announced that Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski awarded Insituform with the Governor's Safety Award of Excellence at the 2003 Alaska Governor's Safety and Health Conference in Anchorage on March 18.
Insituform was nominated for the award by Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. for pipe rehabilitation work performed on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Between 1998 and 2002, Insituform completed approximately 22,000 man-hours on the project without any OSHA recordable injuries or first aid cases.
"In our line of work, employee safety has to be a high priority in every decision we make, both on the job site and in how we develop our work practices. We are pleased that Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski has recognized our efforts with this award," said Anthony W. (Tony) Hooper, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Insituform.
The Governor's Safety Award of Excellence is presented annually to groups that achieve excellence in employee safety and health systems. Nominees must demonstrate either safety improvement or a consistent high level of safety achievement. They must also have a documented system for hazard analysis and hazard reduction, and demonstrate both management commitment and employee involvement in the safety process.
