New Jersey-American Water to Break Ground on New Water Main

Feb. 19, 2003

New Jersey-American Water Company will hold a groundbreaking ceremony today at noon in Galloway Township, N.J. The groundbreaking celebrates the future installation of over 54,000 feet of water main.

The new main will bring high quality water to the residents in Western Galloway who have contaminated wells. Weather permitting, the installation is expected to take about 4 months.

Bringing potable water to these residents is a cooperative effort between New Jersey-American Water Company, Galloway Township, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. In addition, New Jersey-American in conjunction with Galloway Township and the U.S. EPA will be extending service to residents with contaminated wells in an adjacent area.

Local government officials and representatives from New Jersey-American Water will be on hand at the event to provide further details on the project.

New Jersey-American Water Company, a subsidiary of American Water, is the state's largest water utility, serving over one million people throughout the state.

American Water provides water, wastewater and other related services to 20 million people in North and South America.
