Duraliner selected to renew cast iron water line

Underground Solutions, Inc. was awarded a new Duraliner project to renew a water main with the City of Lima, Ohio. UGSI will be renewing 178 feet of 6-inch cast iron pipe under the O'Conner Railroad Crossing. Work is expected to begin in mid-November.

Duraliner is a patented process for pipeline renewal resulting in a stand alone structural lining capable of handling internal minimum operating pressures of 150 psi with a 3.2 safety factor. Duraliner is certified by NSF 61 Standards for Drinking Water Components/Health Effects. In addition, Duraliner provides an equivalent design-life of new PVC pipelines (75 years), thus qualifying the rehabilitated pipelines to be capitalized as new assets under the rules of GASB Statement 34.

"Our ability to structurally reline water lines in an economical and efficient manner is exactly the solution that municipalities and engineering firms nationwide are seeking," said Mark Smith, president and CEI of UGSI.
