Jonathan D. Keeling, P.E. of Lexington, Kentucky, has won the 2002 Daniel V. Terrell competition for younger members conducted by the District 9 Council of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Mr. Keeling’s paper and oral presentation on "Ethics and Civil Engineering: Past, Present and Future" was judged to be the winner during the April 12 District 9 council meeting in French Lick, Indiana. The presentation discussed the evolution of ethical conduct and codification of ethics, the challenges faced by civil engineers in conducting themselves in an ethical manner, and the impact of technology on the future ethical considerations of the profession. The competition was open to younger members of ASCE in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
Keeling is a member of the Bluegrass Branch of ASCE and the Bluegrass Chapter of the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers. He is a licensed professional engineer and is a senior project engineer in the Lexington office of Fuller, Mossbarger, Scott and May Engineers, Inc.
