PGI Membership Meeting to Be Held at U of I Campus

June 14, 2002

June 20 and 21 members of the PVC Geomembrane Institute will gather for the organization’s Annual Membership Meeting at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  All members and guests are invited to attend the meeting along with other PVC geomembrane industry professionals.

Over a two day meeting, PGI will host a variety of meetings and special events for members and meeting attendees.  Based at the UIUC campus since 1997, staff members of the PGI Technical Program will be on hand to conduct University tours and answer questions.  Members and attendees will also have an opportunity to use a fully equipped University studio for the filming of video lectures with timed PowerPoint slides encoded with web-based streaming technology.  These productions will then be used as part of the PGI web site to aid the organization in their mission to advance the use of PVC geomembranes through education and research.

Other agenda items include discussion of member projects, review of the PGI-1197 specification for PVC geomembranes and discussion of PGI marketing and education efforts.  Members will also have an opportunity to learn more about research that is currently being sponsored and conducted by the PGI.  Research presentations include the University of Illinois Durability Study as well as PVC Welding research currently being conducted by Sam Allen at the Texas Research Institute.
