The trade unions of the Vosges bottling plant of French mineral water producer Vittel announced that the five-week-old strike by the site's employees will be suspended. Any further industrial action will depend, explained the unions, on the ruling to be handed down by the Epinal court of first instance on 24 April in response to proceedings brought by the company against the occupation of the Vosges plant.
Vittel estimates that the strike, which concerns pay, has resulted in a production short-fall of around 30 million bottles. The plant's bottling facilities have been blocked for around two hours per day since the strike began on 7 March.
