ISA The Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society announced that Paul Wattelet, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Sargent & Lundy LLC, an international power engineering consulting firm headquartered in Chicago, will deliver the ISA 2002 keynote address on Monday, Oct. 21 at 8:00 a.m. ISA 2002 is North America‚s largest conference and exhibition for instrumentation, systems, and automation professionals and will take place Oct. 21-24, 2002 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, Il.
Wattelet's address will focus on the outlook for the power industry. He will share his insights on the issues that are shaping the industry's business environment such as federal Energy Policy, deregulation, and air quality control regulations, the prospects for nuclear and coal-fired power plants as new generation options in addition to gas-fired peaker and combined-cycle plants, and the overall outlook for the power delivery market. His address will reflect his 35 years of experience in the power industry.
Wattelet has worked for 30 years at Sargent & Lundy where he has served as chief operating officer, chief finance officer, director of power services, director of engineering and project director for domestic and international projects. Sargent & Lundy is one of the world's most experienced power industry companies, specializing in power for 110 years. The company provides comprehensive energy business consulting, engineering, and project services for new and operating power plants and transmission and distribution systems.
Wattelet was chosen as the ISA 2002 Opening Keynote speaker due to his more than 35 years of experience in the power engineering industry, one of the most mission-critical areas of manufacturing today. In addition, Sargent & Lundy has been a leader in the power industry for more than a century.
Wattelet serves on the Nuclear Energy Institute Board of Directors and the Construction Industry Round Table. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Sigma Xi, and The Western Society of Engineers.
A graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology, Wattelet also received a doctorate in nuclear engineering from Purdue University and is a registered professional engineer. Wattelet began his career in 1966 as a senior engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation in the Advanced Reactors Division where he was active in the design and safety analysis of liquid metal fast breeder reactors for AEC/DOE funded projects. In 1972, Wattelet began working at Sargent & Lundy.
