Dead Sea Works Awards Turnkey Contract for USFilter Hot Leach Crystallization System

USFilter has received a contract from Dead Sea Works Ltd. (DSW) for a hot leach crystallization system capable of producing 1.3 million metric tons per year of potassium chloride.

USFilter?s HPD Products will provide engineering, equipment and turnkey installation of the system, which utilizes HPD PICTM crystallizers. Dead Sea Works selected a five-stage system versus a four-stage system, which was requested, based on future operational cost savings. originally

The new hot leach crystallization system features a unique design, which results in low power consumption. The energy-efficient design builds on USFilter?s many years of potash crystallization experience around the world.

The contracting method also is unique to this project. The contract is based on a new partnering model, which enables both companies to benefit from cost savings realized during construction of the project. This flexible program is offered by USFilter on select projects to encourage the highest efficiency and the lowest costs during project development and execution.

The new hot leach system is scheduled for start-up in early 2003.
