NSF International Expands Certification Services in Taiwan and China

Oct. 10, 2001
NSF International, The Public Health and Safety Co., announced the expansion and enhancement of its third-party certification services for Taiwan- and China-based customers through a partnership with NSF-ISR South Asia. NSF is the world leader in standards development, product certification and education services for public health and safety. NSF-ISR South Asia provides management systems registrations in Asia under a licensing agreement with NSF International Strategic Registrations, Ltd., a

division of NSF International.

NSF-ISR South Asia is acting as a local liaison for Taiwan- and China-based manufacturers seeking NSF certification for drinking water treatment units, plumbing and plastic piping components, bottled water and food service equipment. NSF-ISR South Asia will develop business relationships with current and potential customers, collect their product samples and work with them to obtain certification. NSF will certify products and initiate ongoing reassessments.

"Earlier this year, we signed an agreement with the Republic of China for standards development," said Mark Jost, Vice President, NSF Certification. "Our partnership with NSF-ISR South Asia is the logical next step toward fulfilling our mission of providing the most accessible, efficient global public health services possible. We look forward to working with NSF-ISR South Asia to assist customers in obtaining NSF certification for products produced in Taiwan and China."

Easter Huang, Executive Vice President of NSF-ISR South Asia, said, "Cooperating with NSF International enables us to offer full services to customers in Taiwan and China who seek NSF certification. We look forward to continuing our partnership."

In 1998, NSF-ISR formed a licensing agreement with NSF-ISR South Asia to provide management systems registrations in Asia. NSF-ISR Asia employs approximately 100 employees and has approximately 20 offices in Taiwan and China. The company plans to open more offices this year, including locations in Vietnam and Thailand.
