Two New Contracts for Membrane Filtration Technology at Wastewater Plants
The newly created Dickson County Water Authority in Tennessee and the Laguna Sanitation District in California have both chosen Zenon’s ZeeWeed membrane filtration technology for their new water treatment plants.
In an effort to provide safe, clean drinking water more economically to its surrounding communities, the amalgamated water authority will add the new membrane treatment plant to meet the needs of its rapidly expanding population.
Providing a cost-effective alternative to the new county, the larger plant will provide 5 million gallons of water per day for distribution to the various communities once it is completed in early 2003.
Zenon was chosen after a thorough technical comparison for its ability to remove a variety of organic and inorganic materials, particularly disinfection byproducts or THMs (trihelomethanes) from the water supply.
On the west coast, Zenon has received a repeat order to supply its ZeeWeed membrane technology to treat the secondary effluent of an existing wastewater plant in Santa Maria, California.
The Laguna Sanitation District in the County of Santa Barbara has chosen ZeeWeed immersed membranes for a new tertiary treatment plant. This new facility will provide 3 million gallons of treated wastewater per day and is expected to be complete by mid 2002. The treated effluent will meet California’s strict discharge requirements.
