For the fourth year in a row, ONDEO Nalco has been selected as a recipient of an R&D 100 Award. The award, presented by R&D Magazine, recognizes the 100 most significant technologies of the year. This year, ONDEO Nalco's Anionic ULTIMER product was chosen as an award recipient.
Like the original ULTIMER product line (which won the R&D 100 Award in 1999), Anionic ULTIMER is an oil-free, water-based flocculent polymer. Since its introduction in 1997, the ULTIMER line of products has prevented millions of pounds of oils and surfactants from entering the world's waterways. When ONDEO Nalco introduced the ULTIMER product line in 1999, it consisted only of cationic flocculent polymers. Today the ULTIMER platform has been expanded to include an anionic flocculent polymer. Anionic ULTIMER gives ONDEO Nalco access to a wider marketplace in wastewater treatment, paper, and mining. By overcoming various technical challenges, ONDEO Nalco is the first to offer a product of this kind to the market place.
"We are honored to have been recognized four years in a row by the distinguished panel of judges at R&D Magazine," said Christian Maurin, Chairman and CEO of ONDEO Nalco. "We are focused on delivering a return on investment to our customers by creating new, environmentally beneficial solutions to their challenges. Anionic ULTIMER allows us to provide a more complete, oil-free option to our water treatment customers."
ONDEO Nalco's ULTIMER products remove suspended solids, organic matter and other materials from water prior to its use in industrial processes. Being water-based, ULTIMER polymers do not contain hydrocarbon oils or surfactants, which means reduced air emissions, toxicity, flammability and transportation hazards.
