USFilter has acquired Texas-based Modular Environmental Technologies (MET), a national provider of wastewater treatment and byproduct chemical recovery technologies and services. USFilter Operating Services has begun operating and managing seven outsourcing facilities that serve MET's 11 industrial clients located throughout the United States.
MET provides proprietary technology solutions to the refining, steel and specialty chemical industries. Often using modular concepts, this niche company treats industrial wastewater and offers byproduct chemical recovery services through long-term service agreements whereby MET typically owns and operates facilities for its customers.
"MET is a perfect fit for our industrial outsourcing services business," said Ron Davis, executive vice president and general manager, USFilter Operating Services. "Their technology-based outsourcing business model is consistent with our industrial outsourcing capabilities and solutions -- including those offered by the newly-acquired Scaltech. With the recent additions of Scaltech and MET to our portfolio, we are more than ever equipped to meet the needs of industrial customers."
MET's 40-plus team of employees will now become part of the USFilter team. "MET has an excellent reputation in the marketplace for its outstanding customer service and its sophisticated process solutions. This is entirely due to the company's employees and its innovative approach to providing niche services to customers. We are pleased to now have this group of industry experts as part of the USFilter team," added Davis.
"The acquisition assures our growth," said Calvin LeFevre, president of MET. "Being part of USFilter secures the sustainable expansion of our business. With access to USFilter's financial and human resources, we will be able to pursue larger contracts and opportunities that may not have been possible before."
Further terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
