California Dept. of Water Resources Selects Altra Software to Manage Power Scheduling

Aug. 17, 2001
Altra Energy Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has implemented its state-of-the-art energy transaction delivery management system for California's largest energy player. Altra, together with its subsidiaries, is the leading provider of innovative electronic trading services, transaction management software and related e-business services to the energy industry.

Altra has successfully installed Altra Power in one division of the California Department of Water Resources (CDWR) -- California Energy Resource Scheduling (CERS). The Altra Power system was implemented while CERS was making emergency energy purchases for the State of California. Now, CERS can more efficiently manage the scheduling and settlement processes associated with its energy purchases within the California Power Grid.

"In this highly volatile and competitive market, connectivity, scheduling and settlement are critical to success," said Altra President and CEO Paul Bourke. "Altra Power ensures that accurate schedule information is communicated effortlessly and the data required for settlement is accurate, auditable and secure," said Bourke.

Altra dominates the California market with more than 70 percent of energy companies utilizing Altra's software for scheduling purposes. Altra also maintains the largest footprint of energy software installations in the world. More than 200 companies rely on Altra's suite of software products to help manage their energy transactions.

Managing day to day operations in today's energy market requires the latest technology available from a software partner who understands the industry," said William Betts, Altra's Vice President of Sales. "Our software allows companies to focus on operations rather than data management. This gives market participants the ability to remain competitive in an increasingly complex environment."
