Stormwater system manufacturer Hancor, Inc. has been selected as a winner of the prestigious Governor’s Excellence in Worker’s Compensation Award. The award was presented this month to 12 organizations out of more than 280,000 Ohio employers.
The award recognizes Ohio businesses that provide safe and cost-effective workplaces for their employees, while supporting injured workers.
Ohio Governor Bob Taft was on hand to congratulate Hancor. "These employers work to ensure a safe and healthy workplace, and when accidents do occur, they help injured workers get back on their feet," Taft said. "I applaud them for recognizing the importance of an effective workplace safety program not only for their bottom line but also for their employees on the front line."
Steve Anderson, president and CEO at Hancor, Inc. proudly accepted the award. "This award reflects our on-going efforts to have a world-class safety program, keeping staff safe and healthy," says Anderson. "Hancor employees are the ones who made this recognition possible. Safety is part of the way we do our business and this recognition reflects the active participation of our outstanding workforce throughout the company."
Though this award was received in Ohio where Hancor has its headquarters, the safety program is a company-wide initiative at all Hancor manufacturing facilities nationwide. Employees at Hancor play an active role in the safety program, from participating on the Central Safety Committee to assisting with safety audits. Hancor is continually reviewing and improving upon their program, evidenced in consistently decreasing number of claims.
One of the nation’s largest suppliers of stormwater management systems, Hancor manufactures a wide variety of plastic drainage and water conservation products for commercial, residential, construction and agricultural markets. With manufacturing locations across the country, the company employs approximately 1,050 people nationwide.
Hancor was founded in 1887 in Findlay, Ohio, where it still maintains its headquarters.
