The American Water Works Association (AWWA) Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE) will be held in Denver, Colorado this year, from June 8-11.

The following is a list of educational sessions, hand picked from the editors of Wastewater Digest, that you won't want to miss.

All times are listed as local time (MDT).

Monday, June 9

  • Opening General Session (9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.): The Opening General Session will kick off the start of the conference, highlighting award recipients, remarks from AWWA and a topical keynote speaker.
  • Implications of the First 100 Days of the 199th Congress and New Administration (3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.): This session will focus on the first five months of 2025 and includes the openings days of the 199th Congress and the transition from the outgoing Biden Administration to the incoming Trump Administration.
  • Advances in Asset Management Processes (2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.): This session will focus on successful utility case studies and share some of the important lessons learned. It will explore how utilities continue to advance processes in evaluating likelihood of failure, consequence of failure, evaluating risk and making risk based decisions.

Tuesday, June 10

  • Enhanced Aeration and Scum Recovery for Physical Removal of PFAS from Wastewater (9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.): This session will focus on novel approaches to source identification, removal and destruction of PFAS in drinking water and wastewater. It will explore a pilot-scale approach to capturing PFAS in wastewater scum using enhanced aeration.
  • Checking in on PFAS: A Mid-2025 Update on PFAS Related MultiDistrict Litigation (3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.): This session will be an interactive discussion between legal and water utility experts and will provide an update on PFAS regulations from a legal and operational perspective. The discussion will include challenges to the MDL and MCL and/or CERCLA.
  • Taste and Odor Monitoring and Treatment (3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.): This session will discuss monitoring methods and treatment technologies for T&O compounds.

Wednesday, June 11

  • One Water Projects Across the World (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.): This session will focus on drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, reused water and other forms of water that are all part of the global hydrologic cycle. It will explore such linkages through the One Water concept.
  • Maintenance Topics (3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.): This session will focus on effective maintenance and dives into critical maintenance topics that can make or break system performance.
