I have heard all of the stories about Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras, even the Saints’ chance to win the Super Bowl this year—a long shot in my opinion. But I have still yet to experience New Orleans myself, that is until WEFTEC.04, Oct. 2–6 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Like many of the 800+ exhibitors and over 15,000 attendees, we here at WWD spent a good portion of the summer gearing up for the five short days of uninterrupted water and wastewater.

As you can tell by the size of this issue, we have generated a lot of interest among the stalwarts of the industry in terms of editorial content, as well as advertising. A fitting response to the strength of the industry let alone a reflection of the importance of the 77th Annual Technical Exhibition & Conference of the Water Environment Federation.v As was the case earlier this year, WWD has once again taken the initiative to distinguish itself editorially by publishing the WEFTEC.04 Show Companion, which many of you in the southeast part of the country can find affixed within this issue’s WEFTEC Showcase section, which begins on page 48.

Based on the response of our debut Show Companion, which appeared at the AWWA Annual Conference & Exposition this past spring in Orlando, we felt it was only natural to offer another exclusive Show Companion, customized toward the specific interests of our readers and published for the WEFTEC.04 event.

After extensive research by the editorial staff, this tailor-made Show Companion highlights many of the important workshops and technical sessions we feel WWD readers must attend during WEFTEC.04. In addition, an exclusive interview with WEF President Larry Jaworski, exhibitor news, and a host of other features have been compiled and are offered in the WWD WEFTEC.04 Show Companion.

Now, some of you may flip back to our WEFTEC Showcase section in this issue and not find a WEFTEC.04 Show Companion. If that is the case and you are attending WEFTEC.04, you can stop by our booth (#2645) to pick up a copy as we will have an ample supply to offer attendees. In case you still did not acquire a Show Companion in either of the instances above and are interested in receiving one, please send me an e-mail and I would be more than happy to send you a copy.

While we are still a good month away from WEFTEC.04, I began to notice my show schedule already filling up with editorial- and exhibitor-related meetings, technical sessions, workshops and other assorted meetings.

If you are interested in meeting with a representative of the WWD editorial staff during WEFTEC.04, feel free to contact us. As hard as it is to believe, we have already begun to plan editorial well into 2005 and we welcome any story ideas or editorial suggestions that you may have.

See you in New Orleans.
