Georgia Senate Passes Public-Private Partnerships Bill

Proposal allows public-private partnerships for major water projects

The Georgia state senate last week approved a proposal to allow municipalities to partner with private firms for water projects, WHNT News reported on its website.

The bill, which was sponsored by State Sen. Ross Tolleson, passed 49 to one.

Local governments and utilities already are allowed to borrow money for major water projects, said Tolleson, but public-private partnerships give them another option for financing.
