Veolia Water Technologies was awarded a contract by the city of Titusville, Fla., to furnish a Hydrotech Discfilter system. This installation is part of the Osprey Water Reclamation Facility’s (WRF) headworks and filter improvements project. Veolia is providing the Osprey WRF two Hydrotech Discfilter units with programmable logic controller controls, designed to provide an average effluent total suspended solids concentration of ≤ 5 mg/L, capable of filtering a peak flow of 4.125 million gal per day per Discfilter unit.
The Hydrotech Discfilter uses patented designs including the oscillating backwash spray header, which provides media cleaning while reducing water consumption by 20%. Its design and construction produces high quality effluent despite high solids loadings and upset conditions.
The system is expected to be operational by the end of 2014.
