IDE will operate and maintain the desalination plant at Hayman for 10 years

IDE Technologies announced that Mulpha Australia, the owner of Hayman—a luxury, five star island resort located on the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef—has selected IDE ProGreen to provide high-quality desalinated water to the island resort. Mulpha selected the system based on its modular, chemical-free concept and compact size, that delivered a “desalination plant-in-a-box” while enforcing low energy consumption requirements.

“We are pleased to acquire this modular unit from IDE. As a result of its ‘plug and play’ abilities, the plant should be up and running in a relatively short time,” said Mulpha Australia’s Director of Group Asset Development and Projects Greg Timar. “An important aspect in the decision to award IDE the new plant was the ongoing operation and maintenance support to be provided to Hayman from the IDE Australian office. We are optimistic about the desalination benefits we will gain and IDE’s ability to address our critical needs for water capacity under restricted energy consumption and low operation and maintenance costs.”

The IDE ProGreen modular reverse osmosis (RO) desalination solution provides high-quality water while minimizing the impact on the environment by eliminating the use of chemicals in the pretreatment and desalination processes. The system is compact and flexible, which makes it easy to transport and install while considerably reducing operational costs. The IDE ProGreen features a patented RO membrane direct osmosis cleaning system, for reduced energy consumption and stable performance.

“Working with Mulpha on this new project reinforces the value of IDE ProGreen to meet the needs of delivering affordable drinking water to remote island locations while providing a solution that is sustainable and environmentally-friendly to the wider region,” said IDE Technologies CEO Avshalom Felber. “This project is a great example of IDE’s ability to help resolve water shortages, meet energy requirements and provide superior cost-effective solutions. Partnering with Mulpha is particularly pleasing as it continues the relationship established by IDE and Hayman in 1985 in the supply of the island’s current thermal desalination plant which is to be replaced.”

Under this new agreement, IDE will operate and maintain the desalination plant at Hayman for 10 years.
