Desalination Units Chosen for Plant Expansion in Asia

IDEs desalination units to meet increased water capacity needs with low energy consumption
Aug. 29, 2013

A large private sector company has ordered IDE Technologies Ltd.’s Multi-Effect Distillation (MED) desalination units to increase the capacity of a desalination plant in Asia. Chosen for its reliability, high efficiency and track record of success, IDE’s MED solution will meet the plant’s increased capacity needs and provide high quality boiler feed water, as well as drinking water for local consumption.

With a financial scope of approximately $75 million, the new MED units will each yield a capacity of 24,000 cu meters per day (6 million gal) of highly pure processed water, increasing the plant’s total desalination capacity to 232,000 cu meters per day (61 million gal per day). In addition to having low energy consumption and requiring minimal pretreatment, IDE’s MED solution provides inherent stability and automatic control. This reduces the need for labor and maintenance, thereby lowering operational costs.
