DuPont Modular Ultrafiltration Design Awarded Best Disruptive Technology

DuPont Water Solutions, a business unit of the DuPont Safety & Construction division, was awarded the 2019 International Desalination Assn. (IDA) Award for Best Disruptive Technology in recognition of its efforts to meet water demand in Egypt. DuPont’s modular design of a new ultrafiltration (UF) plant constructed in Suez, Egypt in partnership with Integrated Environmental Technology and Oil Services Co. S.A.E (IETOS) was showcased.

“In the Middle East and North Africa, 6% of the world’s population depends on less than 2% of the world’s renewable water supply,” said HP Nanda, global vice president and general manager at DuPont Water Solutions. “Our collaboration with IETOS created a disruptive solution that efficiently meets unique system and water quality needs in the region.”

Built from pre-engineered and pre-assembled IntegraPac UF units, the new decentralized UF plant has a modular system design requiring fewer parts and materials than traditional designs, resulting in a simplified installation process. The innovative design allows the facility to become fully operational in just 3 months, compared to the 12 months typically needed for completion.
