Andy Wieser has been appointed chairman of the board

Andy Wieser, president of Wieser Concrete Products headquartered in Maiden Rock, Wis., has been appointed the National Precast Concrete Assn.’s (NPCA) chairman of the board. Wieser began his one-year term on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at NPCA’s 50th Annual Convention in Minneapolis. Rounding out the leadership are chairman-elect Greg Stratis of Shea Concrete Products in Amesbury, Mass., and secretary/treasurer Ashley Smith of Smith Midland Corp. in Midland, Va.

“It has been a great 50 year run, however, like any successful organization we have to continue to change to stay relevant,” Wieser said during his acceptance speech. “With this strong foundation that is beneath us, we will continue to evolve in a very positive way. I’m honored to serve as chairman as we begin the next 50 years.”

Also elected to the board for three-year terms were Amy Burnett of Barbour Concrete Products in Independence, Mo., Donald Graham of Jensen Precast in Sparks, Nev., and Marianne Methven of Hamilton Form Co. in Richland Hills, Texas. Michael Hoffman of Lindsay Precast of Canal Fulton, Ohio, will serve a second three-year term.

The association’s top individual awards were also presented at the meeting. Chuck Babbert, president of sales for E.C. Babbert in Canal Winchester, Ohio, was presented with the prestigious Robert E. Yoakum Award for his long-time service to the industry and association. Brent Dezember of StructureCast in Bakersfield, Calif. was presented the Douglas G. Hoskin Award for membership recruitment.

“The time and effort Chuck and Brent have put into the association to better the industry is significant and the results are impressive,” said NPCA President Ty Gable.

The meeting closed with a special 50th Anniversary celebration honoring the people and companies who first envisioned NPCA. The stage performance and a series of videos commemorating the past 50 years shown at the event can be viewed online.
