Pennsylvania American Water has announced the start of construction to install new water main in Spring City Borough and East Pikeland Township to improve service reliability for customers and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements, which will replace pipe dating back to the 1950s, is approximately $575,000.
Pennsylvania American Water is replacing approximately 2,000 ft of aging cast iron main along Washington and S&K streets between Wall Street and Poplar Street. The company expects to complete installation of the new 8-in. ductile iron pipe, including final paving restoration, by the end of October, weather permitting.
In addition, Pennsylvania American Water plans to install approximately 1,400 ft of new 8-in. water main along New Street spanning Spring City and East Pikeland between North Cedar Street and Schuylkill Road. Construction is scheduled to begin in early October, and the company expects to complete the project, including final paving restoration, by the end of November.
