The San Antonio River Authority (SARA) Board of Directors on Wednesday voted to approve an agreement with the city of Stockdale, Texas, that would allow the river authority to provide wastewater treatment plant services to local residents.

SARA will provide the city with process monitoring, minor maintenance, water quality sampling, equipment calibration and operation services for the city's wastewater treatment facility.

The city still will be responsible for the cost of painting, utilities, chemicals, maintenance of the collection system and the off-site lift station.

The initial term of the contract began Thursday and is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2004, at a cost not to exceed $22,656 per year. The contract is renewable on a yearly basis.
