Upper Peninsula Testing for Arsenic in Water
Residents from any Michigan county in the state’s Upper Peninsula who suspect their drinking water may contain naturally occurring arsenic can get a free test kit.
The Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Community Health are both offering the free kits after a small amount of arsenic was found in Dickinson County.
Homeowners who may have concerns regarding their water quality and wishes to sample their well for arsenic are able to get a free arsenic testing bottle from their local health department.
Each of the local health departments have a limited number of test kits and they are available on give a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to receive a free test kit is September 30.
