Godwin Pumps joined forces with Fargo, N.D.-based distributor Bierschbach Equipment & Supply to provide Dri-Prime pumps for the flood relief efforts along the Red River Valley in Minnesota and North Dakota.

As a Godwin distributor, Bierschbach began making calls to local municipalities to deliver flood relief through its inventory of Godwin Dri-Prime pumps. “The City of Fargo took their first two pumps from us on March 23. We have now rented a total of 34 Godwin Dri-Prime CD100M and CD150M pumps,” said Mike Anderson, branch manager of Bierschbach’s Fargo facility. “Some of the pumps we have on rent are from our own inventory, and others were delivered from Godwin’s Helena, Mont., branch.”

Realizing that Bierschbach would be responding to this emergency, Godwin Pumps deployed Helena-based Andy Fitzhugh to assist in the relief effort. “I arrived in Fargo late in the day on Tuesday, March 24. At that point, Bierschbach was already securing orders, including six CD150M pumps for the city of Ada, Minn. The next morning, we secured an order for ten CD100M pumps for the city of Moorhead, Minn., at 9 a.m. and delivered the pumps at 2 p.m. the next day. That is how the rest of this effort unfolded, with Bierschbach taking orders and working with us to deliver and set up equipment as quickly as possible,” said Fitzhugh.

With storm sewers backing up throughout the area, the Godwin Dri-Prime pumps were used to pump flooded storm water out of the backed up storm sewer, over the temporary clay dikes and into the river.

“With the help of Andy and Godwin, we have been able to meet the demands this flood has placed on the area,” said Anderson. “We expect the pumps to be on rent for these cities for the next month and look forward to seeing the floodwaters subside because of the reliability of our equipment and people.”
