Houston will be the destination of choice this October for automation and control professionals. ISA EXPO 2008, to be held at Houston’s Reliant Center from Tuesday, Oct. 14 to Thursday, Oct. 16, is the best opportunity to see and experience the latest advancements in the field.

ISA EXPO is focused on providing information about today’s technology for the professionals who implement it. The event offers six technology exchange topics: enterprise integration; environmental and quality control; process automation; safety; security; and wireless and networking. Attendees have the option of immersing themselves in a single exchange or attending offerings from various exchanges.

Keynote presentations each day of the event are open to all. Tuesday’s presentation, “From Smart Dust to Smart Plants—The Evolution of Wireless Sensor Networking,” will be given by Dr. Kris Pister of the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. David J. Nagel of The George Washington University will deliver the Rimbach Lecture 2008, “Instrumentation for Low Energy Nuclear Reactions.” Thursday’s presentation, “Feedback Control: How We Learned to Think Negatively in 300 B.C.,” will be given by Dr. John Lienhard of The University of Houston.

ISA EXPO will provide ample opportunities for networking with peers and industry leaders. Festivities begin with the ISA Honors and Awards Gala, Monday at the Westin Galleria Hotel. The President’s Reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Gala from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $70 per person and can be purchased when registering for ISA EXPO 2008.

ISA business meetings, division functions and certification luncheons will be held throughout the week. ISA YAPPFEST 2008, a free event designed exclusively for young professionals interested in automation, will be held Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Other networking and social events include Tuesday’s International Student Games and Certification Quiz & Conquer event.
