Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) announced that it has selected a warehouse site in South Carolina to service retail stores in the southeast. Located in Greer, it will be managed by DHL and opened by February 2021 with 45 employees, according to the press release.
Financial terms were not disclosed. ADS is a leading provider of innovative water management solutions products that are used in the storm water and on-site septic wastewater industries, providing drainage solutions for construction, agriculture and road projects.
“There are nearly 900 major retail and hardware stores in this region which stock hundreds of ADS products including our smaller diameter pipe, fittings, adapters and fabric liner,” said Brian King, Executive Vice President Product Management and
Marketing for ADS. “Since ADS was founded in 1966, it has always been our goal to have an elite customer service operation and this new facility is part of that objective. We did consider other sites in South Carolina and in Georgia but choose Greer because of South Carolina’s favorable conditions, and it is near the center of our retail business in the southeast. The Greer operation will expand ADS’s capability to service the strong regional market demand and the overall secular trends of residential building and home repair. The plan is to begin preparing the warehouse, hiring workers and stocking pipe
and fittings in the facility during December.”
ADS has had a presence in South Carolina for many years with hundreds of miles of its pipe used in highway and other projects. The company has licensed professional engineers and other support staff throughout the state. “We are very proud
of our work in South Carolina,” stated Scott Barbour, ADS President and CEO. “This is especially true of the storm water drainage systems for I-385/I-85 in Greenville County, I-85 in Spartanburg County, I-85 in Cherokee County and I-20 in Lexington County. It has been very gratifying that two projects using ADS pipe, the I-385/I-85 Gateway and the Hugh Leatherman Terminal project in Charleston, were honored by the Plastics Pipe Institute as the Project of the Year. This new 131,000 square foot warehouse between Greenville and Spartanburg will continue our commitment to South Carolina and expand the reach of our global network that now has 63 manufacturing plants and 32 distribution centers.”
ADS thermoplastic pipe meets various state, federal and industry standards such as AASHTO and ASTM, and is approved for use by the Army Corps of Engineers for storm drainage applications.
