Newhall County Water District Announces 2011 Board of Directors

Daniel R. Mortensen and Maria Gutzeit selected as president and vice president of board

The Newhall County Water District’s the five-member board selected Director Daniel R. Mortensen to serve as board president and Director Maria Gutzeit as board vice president for the year 2011, at its regular board meeting Dec. 9.

Mortensen is a board-certified tax attorney and a principal with Mortensen Law, Tax, Trust & Probate Attorneys P.C., where he specializes in estate planning, business succession planning, wills, probate, trust law, trust administration, trust litigation and taxation. He was elected to the board in 2007 and served as vice president in 2009. “I look forward to continuing the important work the ratepayers have entrusted us with. It is both a great responsibility and a great honor,” he said.

Gutzeit is a chemical engineer and owner of Compliance Plus, an environmental regulatory consulting firm. She was first elected to the board in 2003 and re-elected in 2007. She served as president in 2005, 2006 and 2009, and has served as vice president in 2007, 2008 and 2010. “I am excited about working with Director Mortensen to support leading this great organization again,” she said. “With the regulatory, political and financial challenges in the state, it is a real opportunity to problem solve. I have no doubt we will continue to be solid in long term planning, customer satisfaction and efficiency.”
