MWH Soft to Host International Geoengineering Conference for Water/Wastewater and GIS Professionals

July 25, 2003
Professionals Invited to Enhance their Success at Important Technological Event in the Drinking Water and Wastewater Industries

The MWH Soft Second International Engineering Conference will be held August 11-13, 2003 at the Hilton Hotel in Pasadena, Calif. Water/Wastewater and GIS professionals from all five continents are expected to convene at this event, widely considered to be the most comprehensive and significant infrastructure modeling and management technology conference of the year. The event is targeted to industry executives and decision makers involved in all aspects of the operation, production and protection of water distribution and sewer collection systems.

This year's conference is sponsored by 22 of the nation's top engineering and technology firms, including AKM, Black & Veatch, Carollo, Carter & Burgess, CDM, CH2M Hill, CGvL, ESRI, Flow Science, GBA Master Series, HDR, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, KYPIPE LLC, Lenocker & Associates, MWH, PBS&J, Psomas, RBF, Sanborn, SEA Consultants, West Yost & Associates and Woolpert. The foremost engineering, regulatory, technology and security authorities in the water and wastewater field will be on hand to discuss the latest technological innovations, real-world strategies, practical solutions, proven infrastructure protection measures and technical information.

An array of activities will be presented under this year's theme, "Advances in Geospatial Infrastructure Modeling and Management Technology." As more utilities come to depend on hydraulic geoengineering software to make decisions that help communities around the globe, there is a growing pressure on the geoenvironmental community to leverage the full potential of advanced geospatial applications software. The International Geoengineering Conference (IGC) provides an interactive forum for presenting the state of the art in water and wastewater infrastructure geoengineering; facilitating ongoing cooperation and exchange of technological innovations and proven solutions; and discussing the issues, regulatory activities and technological challenges that face the geoenvironmental community.

"The IGC is presented exclusively to MWH Soft users, potential users and partners with a special interest in the utility industry," said Werner deSchaetzen, Ph.D, MWH Soft Director of Engineering Education. "Because this important event attracts a large international gathering of leading experts, it offers industry professionals a unique opportunity to explore exciting new technologies, join in the modeling debate, benchmark against and network with their peers, find solutions, hone their management skills, enhance operations and boost their future productivity and success."

During three days of content-rich gatherings, attendees will get a sneak peek at the latest geospatial solutions and learn how to gain a competitive edge in an increasingly difficult economy. Mainstage keynote speaker Dr. Don J. Wood, Director of the Civil Engineering Software Center at the University of Kentucky and a world-renowned authority on hydraulic engineering, will spotlight breakthrough solutions and innovations in transient/surge analysis destined to revolutionize the design, operation and maintenance of drinking water infrastructure systems and more effectively protect public health.

The conference will also look at the newest developments in other critical areas, including innovative master planning technologies and the role of GIS and Asset Management in improving business performance. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with MWH Soft product managers and technical specialists. A number of IGC networking sessions will provide opportunities to give feedback on product direction and share information with other users.
