Flygt Manager to Participate in Panel, Present Paper at CWEA Conference

Jan. 31, 2013
Challenges of processing modern trash on agenda

The California Water Environment Association Cutting Edge Technology Committee will hold a panel discussion at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, Calif., on April 18, 2013. It will focus on the problematic "flushables" issue in modern trash/wastewater. Immediately following the panel discussion in the same session will be a 25-minute presentation about a related technical aspect: cutting-edge technologies.

Both topics are very timely in the industry, as numerous pump/lift stations around the nation struggle to handle nonwoven modern cleaning and hygiene wipes, which are commonly used and do not dissolve in water. Xylem, a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, today announced that a representative from its Flygt brand of pumps—Municipal Business Development Manager Bob Domkowski—will participate as a member of the expert panel for the Cutting Edge Collection Systems Solutions Session during the dispersibles/flushables discussion; he will also present his technical paper “The New Wastewater Collection System Challenges Caused by Modern Trash.”

Domkowski will address the current state of collection system problems caused by flushables and highlight the success end-users have achieved when employing the latest hydraulic technologies. The dispersibles/flushables issue has been tackled by Flygt's N-Hydraulics at many lift stations around the nation and at the influent side of many wastewater treatment plants. In addition to their capability to pass most "modern trash," N-Pumps are also energy efficient and cost effective.
