The Water Technology Acceleration Project (WaterTAP) announced that Kenneth A. Morrison, P.E., FCSCE has been named chair of the board of directors.

“On behalf of the board, I’d like to offer congratulations to Ken on his new leadership role with WaterTAP,” said Dr. Peter Gallant, vice chair. “Ken brings extensive knowledge of the water industry and proven leadership and corporate governance experience to this role, which will no doubt be of significant benefit to the organization.”

Morrison joined the WaterTAP board of directors in September 2014. In February 2015, he announced his plans for retirement from R.V. Anderson Associates Ltd., which he has led as president since 1989.

“WaterTAP’s work is creating value for Ontario and making a major impact on the province’s water technology sector,” Morrison said. “There is great opportunity to do more for the industry, and I am committed to dedicating my time to working closely with the board and WaterTAP’s professional team as we strengthen companies and promote Ontario as a global water technology hub. The outlook for further growth in the sector is very promising.”

“WaterTAP is pleased to be working with Ken, and we greatly value his commitment to building Ontario’s water sector at home and abroad,” said Dr. Brian Mergelas, WaterTAP’s CEO.

Morrison brings more than 40 years of experience in the provision of professional services and advice for infrastructure and environment projects related to water, wastewater, transportation, urban development and telecommunications. His recent experience focused on issues pertaining to competitiveness and accountability, including use of private-sector resources for delivery of traditional public services.

Morrison is a professional engineer, a designated consulting engineer in Ontario, and a fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and the Engineering Institute of Canada. He also brings more than two decades of volunteer experience to WaterTAP, having served as a member and chair of the North York General Hospital Board of Governors, and as founding chairman for Ontario's Central Local Health Integration Network.
