Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has hired Warren McKinnie, P.E., CFM, as a project manager in the firm’s Orlando, Fla., office. He will be responsible for managing water resources projects and providing water resources solutions in Florida at the local, state nand federal level.

McKinnie has more than 10 years of water resources experience, with a focus on storm water modeling, hydraulic analysis, permitting, floodplain analysis, groundwater and contaminant transport modeling, water quality analysis, drainage system analysis and biological systems simulation. He has experience in performing watershed studies, working closely with several municipalities, including the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD).

Prior to joining Dewberry, McKinnie served as a project engineer on several Florida-area water resources projects. He played an integral role in the Myakka River Watershed Initiative for the SWFWMD, where he developed three hydraulic and hydrology models along the Myakka River and coordinated the development of the six adjacent sub-watersheds models. The study successfully evaluated the effects of restoring the watershed to a more natural condition.

McKinnie earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural and biological engineering, with an emphasis on water resources, from the University of Florida. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Florida Stormwater Assn., the Society of American Military Engineers and the Florida Floodplain Managers Assn.
