On the small island of Leyte in the Phillipines, the Fuji Electric Corp. selected Fibercast fiberglass piping as a cost effective alternative to stainless steel.

"Fibercast proved to be an excellent supplier and FUJI Electric was very pleased with the quality level of their products as well as the level of support provided to our company during the course of this very important project," said Gerri Boomer, purchasing manager for FUJI Electric Corp. of America.

This project consisted of three units for Malitbog Geothermal Power Plant - the world's largest geothermal power plant. Each unit produces 77.5 MW and supplies power to the island of Cebu via a marine cable. Fibercast produced over 1,000 shop prefabricated piping sections for this project. Fibercast's F-Chem grade of large diameter filament wound piping in sizes 16 in. to 72 in. was used in the cooling water section of the power plant.

The company was selected as the piping manufacturer for this power plant because its Application Engineering Department was able to offer a cost effective alternative to stainless steel, along with the expertise to effectively convert the stainless steel design to a fiberglass design. Fibercast also was selected because of its 50 years of experience in the fiberglass piping market and ability to provide technical support at the job site.
