Tamper-proof Bottled Water Closure Unveiled

June 11, 2004

Crown Holdings affiliate Crown Beverage Closures announced that their new closure, called AquaGuard, is one of the smallest closures to feature tamper-proof sealing for bottled water.

The company also claims that because the product is made with HDPE resin, the closure has no impact on product taste.

The closure features a patented inside plug seal capable of holding pressure up to 30 PSI together with Crown's second-generation PolyGuard tamper-evident band. In addition, the plug seal remains engaged until after the tamper-evident band is broken, ensuring a secure package from bottler to consumer.

The new range of tamper-proof bottle closures is the latest in a line of Crown innovations designed to meet strict quality requirements. The company recently launched a series of pre-designed metal closures for European manufacturers of jams and honey to help companies achieve greater cost-effectiveness while ensuring complete air-tightness.
