Sutron Receives $2M Order for Stations in Iraq

Sutron Corporation has received a Purchase Order from Washington International, Inc., to provide water quality monitoring equipment for Iraq’s Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) in Baghdad. Installation locations include the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers, their tributaries, marshlands, and irrigation schemes constructed nearby.

The remote stations, 80 in all, will monitor water level and water quality parameters which include water temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH and turbidity. This purchase order includes the purchase of five Snow Monitoring Stations, five Well-Level Pressure Sensors, River Velocity/Discharge Measuring Equipment including the latest Acoustic Doppler Profiler and spares for one year of normal operations.

Sutron engineers are in Italy this week training six engineers from the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources who will be responsible for installation of all the new hydro-met equipment. The Ministry of Water Resources will receive additional training from the U. S. Geological Survey, the primary operator of similar hydro-met stations throughout the United States.
