Initiative to improve customer access to usage information
Aclara will fully support the next phase of the Green Button initiative, Connect My Data, which allows utilities to automatically deliver usage data to consumers through third-party applications that help them understand and analyze it.
Green Button is a voluntary effort by utilities across the country, celebrated by the U.S. Department of Energy and the White House. Aclara is a provider of consumer-engagement portals and advanced meter-reading systems to utilities and is part of the Utility Solutions Group of ESCO Technologies Inc.
Aclara delivered its initial support of Green Button to clients representing 20 million consumers in April. Since then, six of Aclara’s utility clients have fully deployed Green Button’s Download My Data solution to almost six million customers, who can access up to 13 months of standardized consumption data using the Green Button feature of Aclara’s consumer engagement software.
Download My Data allowed consumers to download energy-use data in a standard format to their computers. Connect My Data takes Green Button a step further, allowing continuous, automated downloads to third-party applications that can help consumers analyze their energy use and make intelligent conservation decisions.

Typically, one million customers interact with their usage data through Aclara online portals on a monthly, or more frequent, basis. Green Button data provides utility customers even more flexibility to derive value from smart grid data. In the future, Aclara plans to build on its current support of Green Button by offering more accurate and consistent information across vendors through enriched Green Button data service.
