Kimball has more than 25 years of experience working with federal, state and local governments, community relations and public involvement. She served as executive director for the Western Regional Council from 1999 to 2001, a western advocacy group that works on federal issues with the Western Governors' Association and western congressional delegations. From 1992 to 1999, she managed her own governmental affairs consulting business.
Kimball served as legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. James A. McClure from 1974 to 1979. Her responsibilities involved public lands, water rights, wild and scenic rivers, wilderness, energy, forestry and national park issues.
Kimball is a native of Idaho. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho, a master's degree in counseling from the University of Montana, and her second master's degree in business administration from the University of Colorado. Kit's responsibilities include working with state and local governments, other federal agencies, and intergovernmental associations and organizations. She will manage the Department's efforts to inform and engage citizens, constituent groups, and organizations to actively seek their input and perspectives as policies and programs are discussed and implemented.
