Newform Certified to Annex G Lead Requirements

NSF announces certification of Italian faucet manufacturer

New lead content requirements in California, which will mandate a maximum weighted average lead content of ≤ 0.25% for plumbing products, are scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2010. Newform, an Italian high-quality faucet manufacturer, took the initiative to become certified to the new requirements well in advance of the deadline.

To obtain certification, Newform demonstrated compliance with NSF/ANSI Standard 61, Annex G–Weighted Average Lead Content Evaluation Procedure to a 0.25 Percent Lead Requirement. Newform is one of the first European faucet manufacturers to successfully meet all of Annex G’s lead content requirements.

“Newform’s proactive response to comply with Annex G’s requirements well in advance of the Jan. 1, 2010 deadline demonstrates the success of a true global leader,” said Bob Ferguson, vice president, NSF Water Systems. “We are pleased to provide Newform with this certification and support them in their efforts.”

Manufacturers of faucets, valves, water fittings and other products that come in contact with drinking water must meet the new requirements by Jan. 1, 2010. After this date, any pipe, fitting or fixture intended to convey or dispense water for human consumption, through drinking or cooking, must meet a weighted average lead content of <0.25%.

“The certification of our faucets to Annex G, along with their high quality and unmistakable style, continues to emphasize our leadership in the industry,” said Newform Sales Manager Massimo Giroldi. “Our customers will know when they see the NSF Mark on our products that all health effect and performance requirements have been met.”

For meeting the new requirements, Newform’s products bear the NSF Annex G Certification Mark. Newform is also listed on the NSF website to demonstrate compliance with the new requirements.
