System designed for utilities that manage both water and electric services
Landis+Gyr and Mueller Systems announced an agreement to deliver multi-service advanced metering systems to combination utilities. Mueller Systems is a subsidiary of Mueller Water Products Inc.
The new agreement leverages Landis+Gyr's energy management systems and expertise with Mueller Systems' water management technologies to address the challenges faced by utilities that manage both water and electric services.
Under the terms of the agreement, utilities will be able to deploy Landis+Gyr's electric meters and Mueller Systems' water meters in a single, two-way fixed network solution called Mi.Net – Mueller Infrastructure Network for Utilities. According to the companies, the benefits of the Mi.Net system include on-demand meter readings, e-mail alerts and alarms based upon near real-time information and the ability to best manage water resources through on-going access to custom data and information.
"Utilities that manage both water and energy services need the most advanced smart grid solutions on one cost-effective and integrated network," said Hassan Ali, vice president and general manager of Mueller Systems. "Our new relationship with Landis+Gyr simplifies the implementation and on-going management these multi-service utilities require while affording them the trusted expertise and systems of
Landis+Gyr and Mueller Systems."
"The agreement with Mueller Systems represents another example of bringing together the best solutions available to meet the needs of our utility customers," said Jeff Carkhuff, vice president of product management. "This is one of many projects we are undertaking to further expand smart grid options to combination utilities."
