More than ten years in the making, plans have finally been approved for Charles City, Iowa’s new $8.7 million water treatment plant. This plant will allow the city to finalize its water system improvement project.
The additional facility will allow the city to upgrade its treatment capabilities from 3.36 million gallons per day (mgd) to 5 mgd.
City Administrator Tom Brownlow places May or June 2010 as the completion date for this project.
In order to afford the additional $1 million in engineering costs it expects to tack on to the costs, the city is applying for a zero-interest loan from the Iowa Finance Authority.
