John Joseph Hanula, AIA of CH2M Hill, has been appointed to the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Southern California (USC) Viterbi School of Engineering. Hanula is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
The Viterbi School of Engineering recently established department advisory boards to advocate for the school, advise the chairs of each department, and support the overall vision of USC’s engineering programs. Board members were selected among an elite group of USC Viterbi constituents, including alumni and industry leaders.
“I am honored to be selected as a member of this prestigious board,” said Hanula. “I look forward to providing counsel to Dean Yannis Yortsos, Department Chair Lucio Soibelman, and the department’s leadership team, and championing innovation and advocacy for the Viterbi School.”
Hanula brings a strong background in architecture and civil engineering to this role. Representing CH2M Hill and the water industry, Hanula will provide valuable insight on the role of private sector consultants and how engineering disciplines are addressing urban infrastructure issues. During the past nine years, Hanula has given numerous presentations on large infrastructure projects—highlighting water/wastewater and transportation projects—to USC’s civil engineering students.
