Black & Veatch Water Promotes Terry Johnson to Chief of Global Practices

March 29, 2006

B&V Water, the water business of Black & Veatch, has recently promoted Terry Johnson, Ph.D., to chief of global practices. In his new role, Johnson will provide Black & Veatch clients with instant access to Black & Veatch’s extensive expertise in the water and wastewater treatment areas for general consultations, problem diagnostics and solution formulation, among other service areas.

“Terry Johnson is a problem solver,” said Dan McCarthy, president and CEO of B&V Water. “He understands the global marketplace for technology and is able to recognize what clients’ needs are and then match them up with the best solution. This ability allows Terry and his team to select the appropriate state-of-the-art processes that are ideally suited for each client.”

With more than 35 years of experience with Black & Veatch, Johnson has directed municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects, including conceptual planning and design. He has authored numerous technical articles and contributed to the Fourth Edition of Design of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants, the authority for municipal wastewater treatment design. Johnson holds a Ph.D. in environmental health engineering from the University of Kansas. He earned a Master’s Degree in civil engineering with a focus on environment from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University.

B&V Water has created communities of practices that link regional practice leaders, technology leaders and subject matter experts from around the world to capture and harness the collective wisdom of global experts. “The team then applies that wisdom ‘at will’ to projects around the world,” McCarthy said. “They are embedded in the fabric of the global marketplace and therefore are truly global experts.”

“We’re transforming our regional and local teams into a ‘globally integrated work force,’” McCarthy said. “We have redesigned our organizational structure to foster and accelerate our transformation into a knowledge culture that truly defines us in this marketplace.”
