Dewberry has hired Tim Ly, P.E., as a senior associate in the firm’s Fairfax, Va., office. In his new role, he will be responsible for growing the electrical, instrumentation and control design capabilities for the firm’s water service line.
Ly brings 20 years of consulting engineering experience specializing in the design of electrical power distribution systems, instrumentation and process control systems for water and wastewater treatment and pumping and storage facilities. His experience includes low and medium voltage power distribution, standby power generation, motor controls, variable frequency drives, power system and arc flash studies, value engineering programs, lighting, access security systems, fire alarm systems, programmable logic controllers, distributed control systems, telemetry systems, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Ly has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is currently a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the International Society of Automation.
