Walski Named Diplomate by American Academy of Environmental Engineers

Thomas Walski, Ph.D., P.E., vice president of engineering for Haestad Methods, has been named a Diplomate Environmental Engineer (DEE) by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE). The DEE title is an internationally recognized credential reserved exclusively for premier environmental engineers.

The Academy recognized Dr. Walski for his extensive knowledge and experience in the water supply and wastewater field. To qualify as a DEE, licensed professional engineers must be recommended by peers in their field of specialty through procedures prescribed by the academy’s bylaws. Qualifying candidates must exhibit an unprecedented level of expertise in designing, researching, managing, and teaching in one or more disciplines of environmental engineering.

Dr. Walski is one of the most published and recognized water resources modeling experts and educators in the world. The lead author of recently released Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management, Walski has written numerous books and over 50 peer reviewed papers. He is a three-time winner of the best paper award in Distribution and Plant Operation for the Journal of the American Water Works Association and is the former editor of the Journal of Environmental Engineering.

Over the past decade, Walski has taught over 2,000 professionals in Haestad Methods’ IACET accredited water distribution modeling courses and has recently been certified by Sandia National Laboratories to teach Risk Assessment Methodology for Water Utilities (RAM-WSM).

Dr. Walski is registered as a professional engineer (P.E.) in Pennsylvania and Mississippi and received his master’s degree and Ph.D. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
