Telvent to Upgrade Water Treatment Plant in Albuquerque, N.M.

Telvent GIT S.A., the Global RealTime IT Company, announced that it has been awarded a contract by the city of Albuquerque, N.M., to upgrade the control and acquisition information system (SCADA system) used at the city's water treatment plant. The total value of the contract is approximately $1.3 million.

As part of a new water treatment plant being built in Albuquerque, Telvent will upgrade the city's existing water treatment system (Telvent's OASyS 6.2) to an OASyS DNA (Dynamic Network of Applications) control and information management system, and install a Wide Area Network access sub-system within the new plant so that both plant and distribution control are exercised through the Telvent system.

Manuel Sanchez Ortega, Telvent's chairman, commented, "We are delighted that the City of Albuquerque chose Telvent again when they wanted to upgrade the control and acquisition information system to meet the needs of the new water treatment plant. The flexibility of Telvent's solutions allowed the City to blend existing tools and custom applications with the SCADA system and move real-time data into business and planning activities with minimal cost and maximum ease, ultimately reducing the treatment plant's operating costs. It also allows the City to seamlessly add or remove functionality as dictated by changing business needs."
