Sewage Grinder Redesigned to Meet Today’s Wastewater Challenges

Device achieves up to 248,000 cuts per minute to prevent clogging and roping

The Myers V2 series grinder has been re-engineered from the ground up in order to overcome the increased debris and higher pressure required in today’s wastewater environment.

The axial cutter system on the V2 is made of 440 stainless steel hardened to 57 Rc and is comprised of two parts: the plate and the blade. The plate features 14 specialized cutting slots (12 for the high-head version), and when combined with the three-armed blade, it achieves up to 248,000 cuts per minute. This patent-pending design reduces the amount of torque required and creates a more even amp draw. The result is better solids-handling capabilities and reduced risk of clogging and roping of debris.

Designed with computational fluid dynamics software, the Myers V2 series grinder has a new volute and impeller design that allows shut-off heads up to 180 ft with a single-stage centrifugal pump. This unique design gives operators the flexibility to change between the standard and high-head flow design by simply swapping the impeller and cutter plate, simplifying maintenance and reducing service parts inventory for low-pressure sewage systems projects.

Seal leak probes are located in the outer seal chamber for early leak detection before moisture enters the motor housing, reducing downtime and unplanned maintenance expenses. Other features include an optional quick-disconnect cord for easier servicing in the field, double row bearings to absorb axial and radial loads and an oil-filled motor for cooler operating temperatures and longer life.
