Yucaipa Valley Awards Contract to HDR for New Water Treatment Facility

Yucaipa Valley Water District awarded a contract to HDR to provide engineering services for the Yucaipa Valley Regional Water Filtration Facility, to meet the region’s growing demand for drinking water.

The plant will have an initial capacity of 12 million gallons per day (mgd) but will be designed to accommodate up to 36 mgd. The utility serves more than 60,000 customers.

Services provided by HDR will include design, bidding assistance, construction engineering and start-up assistance for the new surface water treatment facility.

Project components include:

* flow control,

* Microfiltration facilities,

* Yard piping,

* Chemical facilities,

* Nanofiltration and blending facilities,

* Finished water storage reservoir, and

* Finished water pipeline.

Design is expected to be complete in February 2005, and construction is scheduled to be complete in June 2006.
