Dr. Jovito Y. Deauna, 72, founder of the Aquaclean company and president of the Water Quality Association of the Philippines, passed away May 30. He was born in 1931 in Paracale, Camarines Norte, Philippines. He is survived by his wife Delia and sons Jodel and Jovito, and daughters Marvy and Delva.
In 1989, Deauna founded the company that eventually became Aquaclean. The company went on to establish almost 200 of these independently owned and operated stations throughout the country, reported the WQA.
Deauna received many awards--most recently at the 2003 WQA Convention, he received the International Award of Merit for his significant contributions to the international water quality improvement industry.
Deauna worked with the Philippine Department of Health and was an active member of the Philippine Waterworks Association. He also served as a member of the WQA Membership Marketing Committee, the WQA World Assembly Advisory Board and the World Assembly Education, Legal and Ethics Task Force.
