American Water will play an active role in the upcoming National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Winter Meeting, which will be held Feb. 16 to 18, 2015 in Washington, D.C.
American Water will have a strong presence at the conference with several key leaders participating in panel discussions. These include the following:
- Mark Strauss, senior vice president of Corporate Strategy and Business Development, will participate in the “Water Re-Use and Opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships” panel to discuss programs that have taken unique approaches to financing and water reuse through partnerships.
- Maureen Duffy, vice president of Corporate Communications & External Affairs, will discuss how social media platforms have proven effective in providing immediate, two-way communications between customers, regulators, and utilities in a panel titled, "Effective Use of Social Media for Customer Engagement.”
- Nick Santillo, director of Operations Security, will join other leaders in a session titled, “Water & Wastewater Systems Resilience: Preparing for Extended, Wide-Area Power Outages” to discuss "black sky day" events and widespread failure of water or wastewater systems resulting in mass migration issues.
NARUC is the national association representing the state public service commissioners who regulate essential utility services, including energy, telecommunications and water.
